14th March 2010 - 4th Sunday in Lent (Year C)

 

BAPTISM: Canon Law says that baptism should take place within weeks of the birth. The course of instruction for those wishing to have their child baptised next month continues this Sunday in the Bulbeck Room at 11.30 am. Fr Robin will celebrate the baptisms on 25th April at 3.00 pm.

£447 and £125 in gift aid was raised by the fast day lunch for CAFOD – thanks to all who contributed.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS needed to help with the weekly running of the Abbey Youth Club  Fridays 7.30-10.00 pm in term time. If you can help, please contact the parish office.

 

OVER 60S’ CLUB takes place on Tuesday afternoon from 1.30 pm – enjoy conversation, light tea and bingo for 40p – all welcome.

YOUNG ADULTS IN THE WEST: the next gathering with Bp. Alan Hopes will be at the church of Our Lady and St. Edward, Chiswick High Road on Sunday 14th March: Mass at 6.30 pm followed by food, reflection on the theme ‘All I have is yours,’ discussion and an opportunity to address questions to the bishop. FLOWERS IN THE CHURCH: as is customary, flowers are not placed in the church during Lent. If you would like flowers placed in the church at Easter in thanksgiving or in memory of a loved one, please contact the parish office.

ALTAR SERVERS: the next rotas for servers at the 6.00 pm Saturday Mass and the 7.00 pm Sunday Mass are available in the sacristy. Please collect one and make a note of your dates. Servers at the 12 noon Mass please see Eugene.

THE JOY OF GREGORIAN CHANT - we have started a chant group in the parish on Thursday evenings at 7.00 pm in the Maurice Fowler Hall. Please come along if you are interested in joining.

DRIVERS NEEDED on Tuesday afternoons to bring members of the Over 60’s Club to the parish centre and take them home again. Please contact the parish office if you can help.

TAIZÉ GROUP meets on 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 8.15 pm in the New Chapel – everybody is welcome to share an hour of praise and meditative singing in many languages: no special knowledge required. As well as singers instrumentalists would be welcome to accompany simple and short songs.

BLESSED SACRAMENT GUILD prays in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel from 7-8 pm on Wednesday evenings. You are very welcome to join them.
